Hi everyone!!

I hope you're all well and artful. It seems like it's been sometime ago since I last logged onto deviantArt. probably June or July last year!
But more importantly I have missed everyone here and I look forward to spending a long time browsing through everybody's work in the last year.

Since the last time here is an update on my life:

I went to Donghua University in Shanghai, China to study intensively in September 2010. It was a fantastic experience that I'll never forget.
The studio elective was called Porosity.

I am nearing the end of my Fine Arts course at COFA, UNSW. As much as I am excited to finish, I  really want to continue studying and learning :) maybe I just don't want to pay full price adult bus fares yet haha

By the end of 2011, providing I don't fail anything...I will have a Bachelor of Fine Arts :)

Also I have been working very hard creating new artworks over the last 12 months and been busy exhibiting my work at various Sydney galleries. I can't wait to show you!

Looking forward to seeing all your photography, art, designs and seeing how everyone is.

:) Cheers,
Alan

Earlier this week, I had sucha traumatic start to the week. Work was horrid and I was so stressed from everything. I came back home around 1am at night and logged onto the computer to check my emails and found this:

Hi Alan, Thank you for your entry in the Waverley Youth Art Award 2010.

Congratulations!!! You won First Prize in the 18-25 Open Division!!!!!!!!!! :gallery:

Once again I would like to wish you a big congratulations and thank you for your contribution to the Waverley Youth Art Prize. Very Best Wishes.

I was so happy to recieve this. I really didn't expect this at all and almost fell off my chair when I read it. This award has meant a great deal to me for many years.

I first exhibited in the Waverley Youth Art Award in 2004 when I was only in Year 8 of highschool. My art teacher Mr Bannerman at the time told me "Alan your drawing is fantastic. You should put it in". So I did. I have been a regular contributor to this local event since then. Now, 7 years later, I have won my First prize. I try not to get this all to my head but I am so appreciative to recieve this award and recognition.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my family and friends - that means you! Thank you so much for all the inspiration and love. I really enjoy what I do - Art. Your ongoing support is really appreciative. Thank you so much. :D

Thank you to the Mayor of Waverley, the Judges, the public, my uni tutors, Bondi Pavilion Gallery and Waverley Council and also all the sponsors of the event...for making this event possible. Thank you to all the young artists involved this year. See you next year!

Waverley Youth Art Award 2010 Exhibition
Bondi Pavilion Gallery, Bondi Beach
18th - 27th June 2010

The 2010 prize winners was judged and awarded by contemporary Australian Artist, Fiona Lowry and BREENSPACE Associate Director, Anthony Whelan.

My artwork is titled "What seems minimal...multiplies". I will post up pictures soon!

I have recieved some generous feedback already. Thank you.
Cheers, Alan. :glomp: :sun: :painter:
