I came across these very interesting vegetables known as Swede. My mum buys them all the time and uses them for vegetable soup. Trust me...they taste great! Swedes, topped with fresh carrots, celery sticks, onion, sweet corn cobs and plenty of potatoes - yum! All chopped and straight into the boiling pot. Add flavouring/salt/spice/herbs etc to suit taste. A really healthy alternate and awesome for vegetarians!

I took a number of these shots but these were perhaps the best eight and certainly the most interesting out of the lot.

What's a Swede?
A swede is a root vegetable that originated as a cross between the cabbage and the turnip. Its leaves can also be eaten as a leaf vegetable.
